Theme.!
The theme of the story is that perfection is
unattainable. This is shown by Jill always
wanting everything done the best and most
efficient way. She tries to do this by taking
care of all the people at the restaurant. She
tries but she can't do it and later accepts that
the perfection she wanted was unattainable.

Connection #1.!
A connection to Pancakes can be made through the song "Born this Way" by Lady Gaga. In the song it talks about accepting who you are and just going with that. In the story, Jill could not accept the fact that she was not perfect. She tried to fight that as much as she could through out the story. When she finally accepted that she could not be perfect and just let things be the way they are, everything went well. This lesson can be learned through both the song and the book.
Connection #2.!
A connection of the theme can be made through the show Phineas and Ferb. In the show, Professor Doofenshmirtz always try to set the perfect trap for his nemesis, Agent P, and make up the perfect plan to take over the tri-state area. No matter what he tries he is always a failure. It is similar to the story in that fact because no matter how hard Jill tried to keep the restaurant organized and running efficiently, but she still failed.
